Chelsea Football Club are an English football club located in Fulham, West London. The club, founded in 1905, play in the Premier League and have spent most of their history in the top division of English football.

Chelsea's regular kit comprises a royal blue shirt and shorts with white socks, leading to the fitting nickname of the Blues. They play their home games at Stamford Bridge which has a capacity of 40,343 and is the eleventh largest football stadium in England.

The Blues have been English champions four times, and have also won the FA Cup seven times, the League Cup four times, the UEFA Champions League twice, the FIFA Club World Cup once and the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup twice.

The club can boast an impressive trophy room and have achieved a great deal of success, but it wasn’t always this way. Chelsea were once close to bankruptcy, famously being sold for the symbolic sum of £1 to new owner Ken Bates in 1982.

Most of the club’s great success has been in recent years under the ownership of Abramovich. In fact, Chelsea are now the fourth-most successful club in English football in terms of trophies they have won, and are the first English club to have won all three major UEFA trophies.

During the Premier League era, Chelsea became renowned as a team hugely dominated by star players signed from overseas. They were the first club to start a match with a team made of 11 foreign players, something that would have been unthinkable just a few years prior.

Being such a successful side and with several London derbies each season, the Blues enjoy plenty of club rivalries. Specifically North London sides Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, although most fans would include a historic rivalry with Manchester United and Leeds United too!

Stamford Bridge is easily accessible by public transport, with the closest London Underground station at Fulham Broadway benefiting from a dedicated match day entrance. Given the stadium's location in south west London, car parking in the local area is extremely limited – and therefore the use of public transport is recommended.
